Thanks so much to all of the kind people who have been checking in on my NaNo progress, er well, my lack of it. Here is a little update on how things are going.
Week 1: It started off slow, but by the end of the week, I had pretty well caught up.
Week 2: Did not happen. I completely dropped my NaNoWriMo writing to work on another pressing issue: school. As well as I’d like to do with NaNoWriMo, I knew when I began that my priority had to be my schoolwork. I’ve paid enough for the classes after all. Week 2 was busy as I had two presentations one after the other. Then the weekend was spent working on papers.
Week 3: OK. By now, I’m reassessing why I even started NaNo in the first place. What was I thinking? My biggest goal out of this whole process was to get into a more consistent and daily writing habit. (OK. I admit that the lovely idea of having a finished rough draft of a novel is a plus as well).
So today, I’m seriously considering what I’m going to do from here. I’m only at 10,760 words. I need 50,000 by the end of November. There are only 13 days left! That means I need to write roughly 3,020 words per day for the next 13 days to meet my goal.
So, here’s the plan. This afternoon, I’m going to watch and read all of the NaNoWriMo pep talks I can get my hands on. Then I’m going to start writing and see what I can accomplish. Word Wars, here I come!
Can I do it? I have no idea.
Am I crazy? Quite likely.
But, I’m going to try anyway.

YES YOU CAN! (Apologies to Bob the Builder and Barack Obama for plagiarism)
Love the video – thank you so much Sharla. 3020 words a day – You Can Do It! You got me into this mess (Lol!) and I demand you meet me at finish line or will never buddy up with you for anything again!
How’s that for pep talk & ultimatum rolled into one? Now go write! (says she with serious case of NaNo blues) Seriously, let’s do this thing so we’ll have something to celebrate come end of November.
Don’t give up! You’ve still got time to accomplish your goal. Keep at it.
Awww! Thanks so much Karen and Kathy. It’s great motivation to keep me going. I haven’t given up yet. Hopefully, I can add some more numbers to my word counter tonight.
You are adorable! Good on ya for your effort. The way I see it, whatever you end up with is more than you had before, right? So even if you only write 50 words a day, you’re making progress. Hang in there. Good luck!
